RETIREMENT
“You can’t retire from who you are. This heart pumps Kentucke moonshine through these old veins; the Still will call my name until the Lord calls me home.”
I grew up in a house where the moon shines brighter than the sun. A land where whiskey is currency. My grandfather worked until his last breath cast his soul from his body. He always told me, “A man’s legacy is built on the work he did, not the money he earned.” A phrase that rings in my head every time I take my first sip of whiskey. My family lived hard and left their work with what they came with; retirement was never in our vocabulary. Or so I thought.
While combing through old Boojie papers full of lore, mash recipes, and detailed notes of the seasons, I stumbled across an old settler’s map marked up with the directions to a place I know as Skeeter’s Holler. A place where summers are stickier than ripe tobacco and winters are would give Jack Frost chills. Here lies 6 barrels of what my grandfather described as the greatest run his still ever saw. These whiskey-filled white oak barrels have been buried under Kentucke Bluegrass where they’ve been hidden from the law and sun for the past 15 years. Slowly aging and perfectly mellowing, Uncle Boojie’s 15-year whiskey is a love letter to our family. And as any self respecting Southern family would, we’re sharing it with you.
These reserve single barrels will be released at 100 proof over the next year. The first (#3) will be released this September. Only 200 jugs of this rare 15 year old whiskey will be available. Order now to get this rare creation of Uncle Boojie’s Kentucky Bourbon Whiskey.
